Minneapolis’ chic event space has the decor, the staff and the vision to craft stunningly unique wedding ceremonies and receptions for parties from 100 - 650. “Guests know they’re in for a different experience as soon as they walk in the door,” said Special Events Manager Elise Holm. “Varsity Theater blends eclectic bohemian flourishes and industrial accents for a look that’s absolutely breathtaking.”
Other touches like baroque décor, exposed masonry, vibrant greenery, a twinkle-lit ceiling with chandeliers, a full-performance stage with velvet red curtains and a grotto-esque award-winning restroom create a striking backdrop to your special day. Varsity Theater offers an extremely memorable experience for every guest. People of all ages enjoy exploring the 4,834 square foot venue that has an imaginative surprise around every corner.
A PERSONAL EXPERIENCE
Elise and her team pride themselves on creating a highly personalized experience for each couple at Varsity Theater. “We love unique centerpieces or party favors that really express the personality of the couple,” she said. “We had one client that created centerpieces for their wedding from every city they’ve visited together and used those cities as table numbers for their seating chart!” Other unique touches include a marquee with a customizable message, poster boxes where guests can display engagement photos to look like concert posters and screens that play a slideshow of couples’ photos, wedding hashtags and favorite movies.
Varsity Theater can also accommodate couples seeking a less traditional ceremony. “Couples can exchange vows and stand with their bridal parties on the same stage where Amy Winehouse, Feist, Mumford & Sons, Janelle Monae, Sia, Goo Goo Dolls and so many more international artists performed. That’s a pretty cool wedding story,” she added.
For a variety of exceptional, delicious and unique appetizers, entrees and desserts, Varsity Theater partners with a local caterer who’s always ready to help create a custom menu and presentation options for clients. The in-house bar team is made up of experienced mixologists who know that today’s wedding guests expect a next-level cocktail experience.

That same incredible production value is used to enhance every private event. “Often, clients don’t realize how much we can do with lighting and sound to create an amazing event,” Elise said. “We can highlight individual moments of the wedding with different lighting, sounds and atmosphere. It has such an emotional impact on our guests!”
Varsity Theater is also ideal for live entertainment. “What’s great about Varsity is that DJ’s and bands love playing at our venue,” Elise mentioned. “We have a performance-level stage so they can put on their best show for guests. I’ve seen wedding bands get so energized by the atmosphere here.”
For Elise and her team, the job is about creating moments that will last a lifetime for couples and guests. “We receive a lot of compliments but the ones that I’m most proud of are for creating the best day ever for our wedding clients,” she said.
